Orwell Millennium Showcase 2000
Held in the Village Hall
By Derek Skipper
All the clubs and societies of Orwell showed what they had to offer when they put on a display in the Village Hall, Friday, Saturday and Sunday, 17th, 18th, 19th March 2000. There were over 50 stands which filled the hall to capacity and a good crowd attended, including the pupils and staff of Petersfield School.

The Mobile Library was parked outside, decorated with flags and bunting to advertise the event and inside were stalls to show the wide variety of activities that take place in Orwell. Clubs, Societies, the two Churches, Companies and Businesses with Village connections, all displayed their activities. There were also displays by Orwellians who had interesting collections. (Kite flying, Old Kitchen Equipment and Horse Equipment from a bygone age.)

Organisations were able to encourage people to join their groups and increase their membership.
On Saturday the Orwell Singers gave a lunchtime barbershop performance to entertain the visitors.
