Henry & Mabel Parcell at Meadowcroft Farm

Henry Parcell of Meadowcroft Farm has died at the age of 69 after a long illness. He was a strong, resolute character with a cheery smile who worked hard and farmed well. His father was a native of the village but Henry was born in Walthamstow and moved to Orwell in 1918.

He commenced what proved to be a flourishing coal business and moved to Meadowcroft Farm at the end of the last war. He played football for Orwell F.C. and he was also blessed with a lovely tenor voice. The Memorial was conducted at the Methodist Church by the minister, the Revd. G.A.  Mumford with Mr D. J. Miller at the organ for the singing of some of Mr Parcell’s  favourite hymns.
