My name is Chris Haynes and I have been running Orwell Football Club since 2008. We started our journey In the lower stages of Division 4 and have since climbed to our current standing at the top of Division 2 with seven games left to go in the 2012/2013 season. We also managed to win a cup final at Cambridge City in the season of 2010/2011 as well as winning the Division 4 title.

We have seen many players come and go, some retiring, some moving on, and also some players who have come through as seventeen year olds who are still here today. Some even went to Orwell primary school in the past. I started with Charlie Watson as my assistant and then after a couple of seasons Matt Thorogood ( an old Orwell player) has come in to help me. We both still manage to lace the boots up from time to time.

Behind the scenes we have a very well run club with many valuable committee members

Working for us behind the scenes are Peter Haworth the chairman, Roger Golden the secretary, Andrew Pulham the treasurer, as well as other valuable committee members like Paul, Anna & Ben Squires and Barry Piggott. These people have worked very hard to make the club very stable. Paul cooks a BBQ for supporters to buy a burger or hot dog at every home game, ( something very unique for village football). Fingers crossed we can go on and win the league and give the village something to cheer about.
