THE ANNUAL ORWELL QUIZ
Friday 16th October 2015
Our Orwell Annual Quiz in October was, as ever, very well attended and hotly contested ! We made our 2nd biggest profit ever – a whopping £808! Thanks to everyone who came.
Our new quizmasters Paul and Fiona Haskell did a terrific job, as did their ‘glamorous assistants’ Nick and Jeannie Everington. A huge thanks to them. And an especially big thanks to Jane Graham for setting the questions which were, shall we say, challenging! Once again we had lots of wonderful raffle prizes donated by village businesses, for which we are extremely grateful, and our thanks go to Julia Mantle for managing the raffle. The food was also well received – well there wasn’t much left of the ploughman’s platters that were delivered to each table!
The quiz itself was a nailbiter all the way, but in the end Thunderbirds, headed by David Owen, triumphed once again, closely followed by the Angry Mob Crew. So for the fourth year in succession, Thunderbirds sailed off with the first prize and the honour of their name being engraved on the placque. Well done to them. Can ANYONE take them down?
Here’s what their team leader had to say:
The FOSAC Quiz Night
The evening of Friday 16 October saw another hotly-contested competition to be crowned Orwell Village Quiz Champions. This year, the quiz was under new management, David and Iris Bird, who had run the quiz for many years, having taken a well-earned retirement.
As usual, it was closely-contested, with at various times, different teams being in contention for the top spot before The Thunderbirds emerged victorious by 4 points, their 4th victory in a row and their 8th in 11 years.
A big thank you goes to everyone who helped to make the evening the success it was.
