Orwell Singers

Our stated aim is ‘to provide an enjoyable opportunity for people to sing a wide repertoire of music, both secular and non-secular’.

Due to the current Covid19 restrictions we will be holding virtual meetings during our autumn term 2020, using Zoom.

We are a very friendly group and normally we meet on Monday evenings in the Methodist Schoolroom in Orwell during school term times.   Our members come not only from Orwell and other surrounding villages but also from Cambridge and Royston. At the moment the choir consists of 11 sopranos, 10 altos, 4 basses and 7 tenors. You do not need to be able to read music (as long as you can sing!) and we do not audition new members.

We put on a Christmas Concert in December and a Summer Concert in late June. These include a wide range of music of various styles, a bit of audience participation, fun items and songs from the shows and take place in Orwell Village Hall.

The Methodist Schoolroom where we meet is next to the Methodist Church in Town Green Road, Orwell. The hall is open from 7.15pm and we start singing at 7.30pm. We have a coffee break at about 9.00pm and finish at 9.30pm.
